Keep the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame Alive image

The Paper Industry International Hall of Fame is an institution dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich legacy of the paper industry, which has played a pivotal role in global communication and cultural development. Since the beginning in 1992, the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame has inducted over 135 individuals, celebrating the contribution of paper industry giants for almost two thousand years. Today, the paper industry continues to tell new stories about scientific achievement, environmental sustainability and to support health, hygiene and medical care around the globe.

But the Hall of Fame cannot survive without financial support. Your support through donations helps us continue our mission to honor those who have significantly advanced the paper industry, provide an up-to-date website dedicated to the HoF (www.paperhall.org), and induct new members. Each contribution, large or small, makes a profound difference in our ability to celebrate this vital history and inspire future generations. Together, we can ensure that the legacy of the paper industry continues to be a source of learning and admiration for years to come.

The Paper Discovery Center (PDC) treated guests to the wonder, history and legacy of the paper industry. The highlight of each trip was a visit to the Purdy-Weissenborn Paper Lab, where PDC educators lead guests in making a sheet of handmade, recycled paper. Field trips centered on the locks and dams of the Fox River, hydroelectricity and the life cycle of trees were an almost daily occurrence, along with visits from Boy and Girl Scouts and special art and paper workshops.

The public’s enthusiastic response to STEM-related programs and activities prompted a reimagining of the PDC in 2020. With the exhibits 15 years old, it was time for
a change. The main level was refreshed with our Science Live! Stage, where educators conduct daily interactive science shows and field trips. The River Level was opened to the public with a new, larger paper lab selected paper-focused exhibits and a printing lab.

Today, Atlas Science Center offers a unique platform for engaging the community in STEM education and exploration. But more is yet to come. In late 2024, WIn
(Wisconsin Industry Innovations) will open on the main level. This exhibit will feature area companies and their workforce needs. Additionally, plans are underway to expand our offerings with new exhibits throughout the main level and the development of the Outdoor Learning Center. Transforming it into a hub for freshwater monitoring, pollination habitat and outdoor education.

Thank you for considering supporting the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame.
