Women Leaders Program for Girls - September 16
Join us on Saturday, September 16 from 2:00-4:30 PM for girls ages 10-16 for a series of four workshops featuring local women in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, & math) mentoring girls in our community. Brain teaser warm-ups, hands-on activities and lots of conversation between current women leaders and future women leaders. This is a great way for girls to start imagining what their professional life can be like!
We will wrap up with small group discussions over snacks & refreshments provided by Atlas! September 16 - Ages10-16
The second week of Women Leaders at Atlas is an exciting mix of engineering and atmospheric science! We are proud to host mentors Kim Acord, Quality Engineer and Tamiris Menu Nubile, Manager of Mechanical Services both from Voith Paper Inc and Deanna Donohoue, Professor of Chemistry at Lawrence University. Girls will enjoy a timed building activity and hand-made paper making that demonstrates production engineering and optimization. Participants then get to construct their very own CD/paper spectroscope to learn all about air quality and the chemistry of the atmosphere before exploring pre-built weather stations! Girls can take their spectroscope and hand-made paper home with them. Small group discussions and refreshments & snacks provided by Atlas will round out the program. Must have minimum of 10 participants for workshop to run. Maximum 20 participantsSponsored by Kimberly-Clark Corporation & Women's Fund for the Fox Valley Region, Inc
